Hi there...

I am an AVID fan of Photography.. I love to shoot events for the sake of capturing and collating great moments, expressing my self and sharing my perspectives of art. Never thought that I can do better than that. :)

Just today, I found out that I won second place in Maniniyot's very first contest. Though it will be conducted monthly but being part of the first winners feels overwhelming! ^_^ Out of 8 entries, I won second place! weeeee... It is a great experience for a newbie like me.

I would also love to congratulate all the participants for generating fascinating outputs. :D Special mention to the Mr. Paulo Castillo for winning the first place. It was a synonymous decision. Almost everyone voted for his entry... ;) I voted him first too...

Thanks guys for holding great contests like this. That inspires me to shoot better... This also excites me to capture my entry for next month's theme: PASSAGE OF TIME.

Kadayawan 2009 is a yearly event celebrated by Dabawenyos to give gratitude to the bounty blessings bestowed to Davao City. People from other places visit Davao to witness this well prepared event. Overflowing food, jovial parades, colorful cultures and exciting night life activities makes it more attractive.

I never had the chance to attend any Kadayawan events for 21 years even I have the privilege to do so. Except this year where I get to involve myself to the Indak-indak parade for photography sake. It is one of the most awaited events. Photographers flock the streets during this time since we get the chance to shoot the participants with their colorful and dramatic costumes up close. We can dance with the dancers in the streets and bump to them if we want (just kidding).

Why would I turn down a wonderful opportunity like this?

Without hesitations, I attacked the streets of Claveria and Roxas to shoot as many photos as I can.. :D Of course, I am with the Maniniyot Community to do such. :)

Ateneo's way of celebrating it's fiesta and intramurals is really one of a kind! Can't help but be overwhelmed with awe.

I came to visit ADDU last night without any faith of being able to enter the covered court and watch the awards night of the intramurals. It is really hard to get a ticket to that event. It is known for that even when I was in college. As I can remember, my classmates were always pissed off everytime this day comes. Before, they have to flock with the huge crowd, join the line and push themselves to the court just to have a slot on the bleachers. Good thing the system changed. Tickets are now available to avoid injury which usually happens before.

I was alone when I visited ADDU last night. I am not even sure if I can find someone I know from the random crowd I see. I was so blessed to see my College Dance Troupe friends. :D At least I get to talk to someone while watching the show from a projector outside the court. But I think God got more generous to me. There were still available tickets for us. :D It came from a good friend of my good friend. LOL.. And that made us enter the court!!:) That also secured us from the flood and rain yesterday. I can't imagine myself getting dump and wet outside. It was really a blessing!

Inside the court, I really enjoyed the dance numbers, the presentations and the announcement of winners. Good thing I brought with me my camera which allowed me to document that wonderful event for FACEBOOK purposes. LOL.

Since last week, I have been looking for an MP3 copy of the song Yesterday by Leona Lewis. I fell in love with this song and is planning to create a choreography base on it's lyrics. Unfortunately, after 3 days of asking my friends if they got a copy of the song I still didn't get one. :( A friend then told me about a website where you can freely download videos, music and games. Last August 9, 2009, the ACD Batch 2004 had a mini reunion at Casa Maria diner. The celebration is hosted by the Arandia family. It was a co-celebration of Concha's thanksgiving for becoming a registered nurse. The event focuses on the HS batch 2004 reunion of the Assumption College of Davao. To add depth to the celebration, I was asked to create an Audio Visual presentation that would showcase and reminisce our High School experience. Doing photography alone is less fun. That is why I am so blessed to be part of the MANINIYOT COMMUNITY core group. :D We had been seeing each other since August 2, 2009 (that is around 10 days), however it seems that we have known each other for a lengthened period of time. Being with them is so relaxing and jovial at the same time. What is good on being part of this group is that we share the same interests (referring to photography) thus we grow and mature on exploring that craft together.

For 10 days, we already had 1 big photoshoot at Eden Nature park which occurred last Sunday (August 9, 2009) with 3 lovely models named Aubrey, Dinette and Raquel. 4 group meetings, 4 dinners together, 1 lunch event together, 2 group picture shooting, and daily chatting with the other members. Being with them is the most comfortable thing I experienced these past few days. For now, the team is composed of 8 members namely: Jamoy, Kiev, Joemar, Paulo, Toto, Tina, Raphael and yours truly. We are still in the process of stabilizing the group. But seeing the enthusiasm made me easily conclude that this group will last long. :D *crosses fingers and toes!

I have been planning to have my own satellite in my house. I got my DSLR 3 weeks ago and last sunday I was on my way to EDEN NATURE PARK, Toril City to experience my very first (real) photoshoot with Maniniyot community (MCom). That's a big leap for a newbie I guess. We had with us 3 models namely Dinette, Aubrey and Raquel. They truly are epitome of beauty and glamore. I should say, they were very professional on the shoot as well. Princess Aubrey brought with her a dazzling gown and a crown. :D Can't imagine how expensicve everything was. Raquel "the angel" brought with her a sophisticated antique top and matched it with a brown bolero. Dinette brought a black and white glamored dress matched with a seductive red pumps. They appeared well prepared. Everything happened so fast but I made sure that I savor each shot I took on that day. I hope I can reciprocate their efforts with my photo output. :)
