Facing the Facial Fain

I get insecurities everytime I face a mirror and take a closer look at my face. It doesn't really look good. Everything is in there- zit, white and black heads and milia. That moved me to take my very first FACIAL!!! Or should I say... FACCHHWAAALLL... *Thinking the PAIN it accompanies.

Many people halt themselves from having this because of the huge sacrifice you'll undergo in the process. Your face will be pricked and will be bleeding LITERALLY. But it's not all that.. you'll also experience a relaxing feeling especially when they start applying moisturizer then vacuum it so that it penetrates well to your face. I love that part. The whole process will happen for 2 hours. I was the first patient on the clinic but when I got out, the clinic was almost full. That means a lot of people also sees this procedure essential.

After the procedure, I went out of the clinic and felt that I am glowing... savoring the freshness of my face. LOL... but It still has scars that will minimize after 2 days.

The experience left me this idea: It is always important that we recognize the needs of our face. Taking care of our face also means that we take care and LOVE ourselves!

New Haircut... Old me...

Nine LOONNGG hours sitting in the parlor...

Yes, you didn't get me wrong. That's how long I have waited to get the NEW haircut I have now.

I went to the parlor around 10:00 in the am and got out around 10:00 last Monday ( July 20 2009 ). The hair processing was too lengthy. My head received bounty of chemicals just to get the desired hairstyle. * A hairstyle that is CLOSELY similar with my mom. It's funny since if my mom and I will be with each other, people thinks that we are just sisters or WORSE-->"twins". LOL.

I patiently waited for this thing to be over. I shouldn't complain though since every penny is charged to my mom. :D She just decided that I should take a new haircut seeing the older rugged hair I got. As for me I am just a victim of this interest.

My whole day was spent in the hair saloon, but it didn't stop me in doing the things I usually do for that day. I watched BOF in the place, ate my favorite chicken meal from Jollibee, text2, read magazine, and even took a nap to prepare for my work at night. It was not that convenient but it was okay.

For now.. I got a newly colored hair. Don't know what's the exact color but I know it is a mix of three nice colors that's a bit close to ASH. My hair was texturized. It is a hair package that is a bit expensive. But I asked them to retain my long hair since I am not fascinated with short hairs except if it is cut like Jandi's hair or like Angelica Panganiban's short hair. It is now well layered and I got a kid bangs to top it all. LOL..

It's TRUE that I have a new haircut.. but I still have the old me... Can't change that.. and WON'T change that!!!

Modographer: Model or Photographer???

It's Sunday (July 19 2009), sharp 1:00 pm...

My cam is ready to take great shots of the models we have for today. The photoshoot will be held at an abandoned building in Bajada Street. Theme? .. GANGSTER!!!!

The team D40 (Raphael, Kiev, Gemini, Kieve's friend and me) will be the photographers for the day. Our group name is derived after the Nikon camera we all own.

Before the event, I and Raphael decided to meet at victoria plaza and go to the location together... We ate lunch since we haven't had one. And I had a short tutorial with Raph regarding camera setting.. which was actually so cool since I have learned new insights from him. ^^ Thanks Raph!!!!

In the mid of our conversation, it was interupted with the news that the models for the shoot backed out since they got so drunk the night before and had hangover that time. T_T

It was really funny yet a disappointing news... The dilemma was to pursue or not to pursue the shoot. All are ready except that we don't have models to shoot! LOL!

Raphael...then "kindly" asked me if I can replace the models. I think it was also mentioned that Kiev's friend will also take place as a model so that I can take photographs. Given the nice agreement.. I agreed. Since all our preparation will be put to waste if nobody will give in.

We arrived in the area. The place was really cool... :D However, my impromptu outfit didn't look gangsterish (if such word exists! LOL). But it was okay for them...

So the shoot went on... For my poses.. I thank America's Next TOP model who gave me creative ideas on how to strike a pose. LOL...

The feeling was really weird! It was my first time to do a "pseudophotoshoot" since my previous experiences were just products of peer vanity nothing more nothing less... I was conscious of my face, body, hair, eyes... probably everything. Pose here.. Pose there.. pose everywhere!!! @_@
The shoot ended.. and I have to leave early since I got another appointment that day.. bye guys...

After then I realized that I didn't had any shots for that day..:( but maybe it was meant for me to learn and experience posing so that I can effectively direct models I'll be shooting in the future. That way.. I have learned one character of a photographer... "empathy"-->stepping on other's (model) shoes! LOL.

P.S. Ate Gemini had her own story to tell...:P

Kalasikas attempt yesterday

Clothes are ready... Make-up done... Stage is well lit and the crowd is prepared to witness the event of the night... Today, we will be performing a dance number on the Kalasikas show held at People's Park, Legaspi St. Davao City. Petty more minutes and the show will start...

July 19, 2009. 5:45 pm

tic..tac..tic..tac...

What happened before the final minute? I spend half of my sunday practicing for the show. I arrived around 3pm at Metro lifestyle where the final rehearsal was conducted. Other dance groups like the Jazz up, Groove Unlimimted, Faces, Infinity were also in the area to practice the flow of the show. All groups showcased cool dance routines that will surely leave an awe after hitting the dance floor. As for me...I danced with the Alternative Groove dance troupe after being invited by Christopher "Tupang" Nellas days ago. (Thanks for the opportunity!^^)

The final rehearsal ended right on time. Our group spend some extra time to do further rehearsing. We need to polish the dance routine mounted yesterday where we also spend fun 8 hours at UIC bonifacio. The practice finally ended, it is about time to go to the area to do the show.

Upon arriving, the sky was like a bulk of enclosed water that is about to leak. I then got the feeling that moments from now... it will rain.

But still, we prepared ourselves. With my other group mates.. we went to the dressing area and changed our clothes, do make-up and fixed our hair. Everything was ready... (I am ready..^^)

But uh-oh... RAIn POureD DOWn >_< hahay.. stranded in the dressing area...

Other dance groups looked for a shelter. Some were on the huge dome comfortably sitting, others were on the stage standing, a few were on a tent sitting silently, and all were patiently waiting for the rain to stop. 6:30 passed by and still the rain didn't stop. Minutes passed 6:30, the rain slowed a bit but the floor was a total dump. Will the show go on given the scenario? the decision relied on the group leaders.

BEFORE the decision, the organizers gave us a descent meal. :D I had chicken, bihon, rice and a canned softdrink.... weeee... enough to stuff my hungry tummy. BURP!

By 7pm.. the decision was announced to us. We were informed that the show is postponed knowing the scenario of the area. It is moved next sunday (July 26, 2009), 6:00pm. Hmmmm... SOUNDS GREAT!!!! :D

For me, it is a blessing in disguise! :P I will then have a week to master the routine and more time to polish the dance (-.^) Thanks Lord! See you next week guys!

BLOG awards!

Hi there...

I got this blog award from "MOLIT". Thanks a lot!!!! :D

I am passing this award to: GIL, ANDY, RONALD and JIGS!
keep it up guys!

More blogs!

A day filled with moments

Last sunday: July 12 2009...

I got pretty cool moments with my friends from my workplace. After inviting them to join some dance sessions with the Groove at Metro, they excitingly responded to that invitation and joined in the dance workshop I take every sunday. I got so happy seeing them in the place. They showcased their moves in the workshop where I realized that they really have cool moves.

The session ended with me getting a hungry tummy (as always). So when Raquel asked me to join her in the mall to take some snacks, I didn't think twice. I gladly accompanied her and Sir Rey. We ordered foods that we crave on that moment. I got myself some carbonara and a huge plate filled with cheese sticks, fish fillet and calamares. (YUMMY :P)

After savoring the meal we strolled the mall... and OOHHH... we saw jollibee with his cool friends crusading the place. Sir Rey was so pushy to get a photoshoot with the mascots. LOL... So we have no choice but to take some... Which I believe was a great dare since I really enjoyed the moment more.

Because of these experiences today.. I realized how wonderful surprises are!!!

Ahmmm.. surprise moments I mean.. everything was so spontaneous shall I say and it ended so memorable!!!

Jayven's 3rd Birthday

JAYVEN's BIRTHDAY!!!

Ever felt the "god mother" feeling?

you might have felt it couple of times, but for me last tuesday was my first time to really nurture the idea. For 3 years, I never thought that I
was his god mother... LOL. Until last week when my high school best friend Vanessa mentioned that I am. WHAAAATTT? I am @_@?

I was invited to his 3rd birthday to be held at their hub. Everything was exciting for me... aside that I get to meet him... I'll be seeing my high school close friends after years of hidding from them (not literally). It just happens that I get preoccupied most of the time. :(
So the day came... I brought with me a paper bag with my gift inside. And when the cab I'm riding parked in front of their house... Yells and laughters then bombard the place!!!
WAAAAAAAAAAA.... it was a jovial moment. can't help but to hug them TIGHT ^^...

As for Jayeven.. I think he's too young to notice me. The last time I visited them was when Vanessa was still carrying him on her womb. duh....

The day ended with a farewell.. but it was trully a wonderful event for us. Hope that our travel plans will come true... Hope to see you soon guys!

D40 in my hands

Photography has become a huge fad for most youth like me. It's not vanity nor envy, for me it is pure passion. With photography, you get to savor memories more that what your mind can playback. You get to experience the days that have passed again and again and again.

With this medium you don't only show art but you can also show who you are and what your ideals and perspectives are. Embracing life as many folds as you can. And showing to other's sight your visions. Life is a passing piece, but having photos of those pieces can yield a vibrant collage in the end. You can do these through photography.

Since childhood all I ever wanted is a camera. I get to experience lots of events from schools or outside the school events. I get to attend lots of wonderful moments that's worth to remember. Sadly, I never had a chance to capture those special moments. My mom and dad are not that affluent. I grew up without owning a good camera that would capture the best moments I had. I reached High School using a manual camera worth 200 pesos... LOL, I think that was just a give-a-way from Kodak.

So last year, January, when my dad gave me money to buy anything I want... the first thing that
popped in my mind is to buy a digital camera. Without second thoughts, I bought a 6,000.00 worth brandless camera. It was a rush decision which led to a gullible choice. the camera was too user-unfriendly. I get blur images most of the time. That made me want a better camera... last January when I get to save enough money from my review days without second thoughts I spend it on a better camera. Bought it from a pawnshop. It was Panasonic older model. I think buying this is one of the best decisions I made. It was cheap and it takes pretty good pictures. The catch though is that I spend so much on it's battery. My drive to get the perfect camera is still bugging me.

Last Monday, my mom surprised me with the prettiest present I ever received. A D40 Nikon Camera . It was so pretty that I never dared taking a nap on that day. I started shooting without even knowing how things work. LOL. Got worse to worst shots. Practically a newbie... but these will never hinder me in learning the needed skill.

It's really true that happiness can sometimes be found on a pretty little box from your mom... but this time, it's a D40 kit in a NIKON box from the mall ;)

Thanks mom!

Do computers have IQ???

Do computers have IQ???

Hi there...
I got this bugging question from a friend: Do computers have IQ???Debates conquered the day after I posted this in facebook. My friends helped me in clearing the topic by presenting their own set of thoughts about the issue.I got these pros and cons responses... Thanks friends!:D

thanks for responding to this debate. Nice to know how firm and witty you get to defend your stand. The main reason why this issue was posted is not to know what is really the answer but for us to exercise our thoughts and be able to learn new insights. :D Human brain is really powerful.. :P Til next time guys!

Rodel Gape: wer'd u get the idea? hehe
maybe based on a omputers AI.. u can compute for its IQ hehe not sure though. :P

Tammy Sulit: what is AI?
(Wikipedia)
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the intelligence of machines and the branch of computer science which aims to create it. Major AI textbooks define the field as "the study and design of intelligent agents,"[1] where an intelligent agent is a system that perceives its environment and takes actions which maximize its chances of success.[2] John McCarthy, who coined the term in 1956,[3] defines it as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines."[4]

Mark Jayme: No, it doesn't have any, because we programmed it

Rodel Gape: IQ is used to calculate intelligence ryt? Wiki: An intelligence quotient, or IQ, is a score derived from one of several different standardized tests attempting to measure intelligence.
so if we create something to have an inteligence let say the computers ability to think or its AI.. maybe we can calculate its IQ too.

Tammy Sulit: a computer will never become a computer kung ala xa program right? and it is called a computer tungod sa program. If ala na, lata lang xa... therefore. dili ang lata ang ato ginaingon na naay intelligence but the machine itself. So what is intelligence then? It is the capacity to reason, to plan, to solve problems, to think abstractly, to comprehend ideas, to use language, and to learn. everything can be done by a computer... ayt? once na program xa na maghimo ana... therefore. Naa xa Intelligence. and we can then computer for it's IQ.

Rodel Gape: IQ is a derived score based on tests attempting to measure intelligence. so, yah... without biases.. computers are machines made to do some things... to process input...to think by itself.
..the mere fact that machines do have "AI" its clearly then that we can measure its IQ so it does have some IQ. :)

Jenny-Lyne Rachelle M. Cagadas: Intelligence defined:
According to wikipedia.. Intelligence is an umbrella term used to describe a property of the mind that encompasses many related abilities, such as the capacities to reason, to plan, to solve problems, to think abstractly, to comprehend ideas, to use language, and to learn. There are several ways to define intelligence. In some cases, intelligence may include traits such as creativity, personality, character, knowledge, or wisdom.

Given appropriate programming, a computer can meet the following standards of intelligence. Therefore, one can amply measure it's IQ. Just as Rodel (FC na, first name basis hehe) emphasized, IQ is merely a standardized measurement of intelligence. Having been endowed with the capacity, a computer will display characteristics that portray intelligence. Now, this debate is not a question of who gave the computer it's intelligence, but if it does have it. And the answer is yes. :) Tammy, i agree...

Cesar Noel QuiƱon: computers will never had an IQ since computer have no reasoning and extensive and complex analysis humans have. The human brain and the Human intellect is the most perfect program ever created and can never be equaled by any man mad programs// o ayan ha.. reply na ang mga whole-brained diri sa facebook

Rodel Gape: even though computers has no "reasoning and extensive and complex analysis humans have." does it mean Computers doesn't have any IQ at all? it may not have IQ as humans do..but still it can have some IQ though not exactly as humans have.

Donabel Bulilan: hmmm.. if computers have IQ.. did people start measuring it? Does that mean that high end computers got higher IQ? we all know that a computer is programmed by bunch of programmers.. are you sure that we are calculating the IQ of the computer or just the intelligence of the creator? and besides, IQ is classified as poor-below average-average-highaverage-excellent... LOL. are computers classified that way too? If a computer has an IQ, for sure it is hard to calcuate since there are lots of factors that can disrupt it's accuracy.

Ronald Villapaz: I guess computers also have an IQ. As stated earlier IQ is an attempt to measure an intelligence. The way to measure an IQ is derived from several test and comprehension. So with regard to a computer's standard applications, these machine's IQ could possibly be calculated.

An example is the computer named "deep blue". The ones that defeated the world chess champion Garry Kasparov twice... Since that computer is capable of calculations, to plan, to solve problems (as what a chess player supposed to be doing), therefore it has an intelligence that is needed for acquiring an IQ. Given that the tests should be based from its actual application. If a computer is programmed to do that certain thing; like deep blue then its IQ in playing chess is definitely excellent. But I'm sure his IQ is low in "waka-waka".hahaha.:p

Jenny-Lyne Rachelle M. Cagadas: Rodel is right. Computers may not comparably display all facets of human intelligence as we do because of certain limitations. But it certainly does know how to reason and analyse.

As defined by Wikipedia:
Reason refers to mental faculties that generate or affirm propositions, by activities of the mind such as judging, predicting, inferring, generalizing, and comparing.

Given the right programming, computers can accurately predict, compare, generalize and deduce information. Without the bias of emotional and instinctual reflexes, computers may even come up with a more logical explanation and forecast the results of certain circumstances. There is a pattern to everything and that is what computers recognize and use for their reasoning. Man may work on it through a different approach, but that does not demerit the intelligence that computers have.

Rey Phil-Oyao: computer is made by human...walay iq ang computer...ang human(tao) ra jud ang naay iq kaysa computer....human should not be under with computer...thats all...thank you. bow..NAKS..(",)

Donabel Bulilan: IQ is commonly measured by Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-R test). In this test you need to measure someone's:

* Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI)
* Perceptual Reasoning Index (PRI)
* Working Memory Index (WMI)
* Processing Speed Index (PSI)
and each has subtests on it. Basically it is measuring the HUMAN BRAIN. Now tell me... can we create a computer that is almost like the human brain?

About Ronald's example DEEP BLUE:
Deep Blue chess computer had 256 chips, which could evaluate and consider all legal moves from a certain position in one electronic flash, orchestrated by a 32-processor mini-supercomputer. It examined 200 million chess positions a second. Chess programs, on unaided general-purpose computers, average about 16,000 instructions per position examined. Deep Blue, when playing chess (and only then), was thus worth about 3 million MIPS, 1/30 of our estimate for human intelligence. But his intelligence is just for Chess playing. Basically, all the components for IQ measurement should be present before we can measure it. How can we make all of these factors present then? LOL... we need to make a human-like brain then and I think for now there is none.

Ken Songcayauon: naa IQ..! best example autobots and decepticons!

Ronald Villapaz: @Donabel

Somehow you were correct. But we were not certain that the acronym IQ or the definition of IQ is absolutely the real deal of IQ. Sorry to say but I do not believe on all of the "wiki's" definitions. We can tell in layman's term that IQ could probably be a result of adding the term intelligence + quotient. And I believe that computers already have intelligence. How about the quotient? It was said in basic arithmetic that quotient is the result of division. Therefore we were talking of a part resulting from an equation. In my understanding, having that intelligence to evaluate and consider all legal moves from a certain position in one electronic flash could be an intelligence quotient resulting from the division of all the required intelligence that comprises a human brain. With all due respect your honor, a computer is partly capable of having that intelligence quotient at least but not everything that we were likely to expect in a regular IQ test.

Donabel Bulilan: @ Ronald

Humans have created the concept of IQ and it was STANDARDIZED to measure ALL the aspects of intelligence. The quotient will then be generated after answering questions that are made to represent an aspect of intelligence (analysis, memory...). Intelligence + quotient will never be enough to define IQ. Since a quotient doesn't only mean a result of division, to get the quotient you need to have a dividend and a divisor: you NEED the standard questions in here. That will then be analyzed and be compared in a bell curve. Check if the IQ is poor, average or excellent.

If your claim is: computers have intelligence, then yes I agree (that's what you call AI). But it will never be enough to be tested for an IQ exam. NEVER! If it is, tell me how to test it then....

Carlos Christopher Go: Autobots and decepticons are still figures of man's imagination. We cannot make it as an example for now. @ donbel. Yes I agree. Testing the IQ of a computer will never get you an accurate result. Since it is created to be perfect in English... store the highest memory it can or analyze excellently base on patterns. If you force yourself to test it though, aside that you can't get everything you need, it will surely result to a perfect ENGLISH/perfect memory result. All units can do that. Given this, you can never make COMPARISONS.. all computers will perfect the test because it is designed to answer it. We even use computers to check IQ exams. LOL

Tammy Sulit: To dona and carlos:

Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-R test ) is a tool Standardized to test the IQ of a single human. We can never use this to test the IQ of computers. We all know that a computer's software is well planned by bunch of programmers and not just by a specific person. If you force yourself to use this tool then you'll end up bluffing yourself. It will surely generate the most EXCELLENT result, or even perfect it.

Testing IQ is a concept made by people to get your intelligence and compare it to others. We may not have it now, but we can also formulate an exam that can effectively test the intelligence quotient of computers base on relevant categories. Maybe compare it's memory capacity, how fast it can process data or how exact it analyze patterns. Having these categories ,instead of using the WAIS-R can generate a more accurate result since it is designed to test the IQ of computers. COMPARISON can occur because as observed there are those slow ones. and oh... you will need a different bell curve for that to check the result. LOL. It doesn't mean that since you cannot test it using the WAIS-R concept then computers doesn't have IQ. It's intelligence belongs to a different category and shouldn't be tested using an EXAM for humans.

Computers aren't smarter than humans... it is just that it is created by a group of experts which is designed to be perfect. Thus, it is surely smarter than 1 individual. More heads are better than 1 right?

Andy Salcedo: the way i see it! It's simple as this:

FACT: Human beings have unlimited IQ potential and so we came up with computers. right?

FACT #2: Computers are built to perform various tasks designed by its creator.

FACT #3: YOU ALL ARE JUST CONFUSING YOURSELVES WITH THE TERM 'AI' AND 'IQ'! In debate language, they are just the same! in this debate,

AI = Computer IQ! Ok!

So here's the conclusion. Humans - lazy as we are - designed programs for computers to perfom various redundant tasks. Eh Tamad nga tayo eh! and who would want to compute 1+1 for millions of times a day? right?

The catch it, We place human IQ on computers - AI - to perform tasks but computers are limited only to that level of IQ. In short, wala sila IQ POTENTIAL pero naa sila permanent level of IQ or AI!

Rodel Gape: I think this debate or so implying this is one.(haha murag tinuod. maybe i'll consider joining the debate team. haha :P)
So far is there any clear conclusion already?
I've been into this, this morning that i took time to read stuff about IQ.So does Computers have IQ? as the matter was first pointed out. I believe it has, since machines does have intelligence no matter if its created or just an imitation to what humans have, the fact is, it does have intelligence.
But just as Mr. Christopher Go commented on this matter, we should never make COMPARISONS. for there are factors that a machine cannot comprehend and a human cannot compete with.
...but still there is this fact that machines or some has been made to think for themselves without human intervention on processing the input to achieve a desired goal.
and so, if it has intelligence, so too can we measure it.
as " Prof. Zadeh coined the term MIQ, Machine Intelligence Qoutient." (try to google the term 4 more info :) )

Andy Salcedo: And we will never reach a conclusion! haha. Goodluck guys!

Rodel Gape: @Andy Salcedo
I think you got it. You must've a hig IQ. :D
I agree to all that you pointed out.. I mean all, including the Transformers thing. good one.

"yaw-yaw much!" -andy salcedo ...this would sum up all. hehe

@Tammy
...I think we now can measure machines IQ, MIQ. just google the term. :D[Photo]

Andy Salcedo: Haha! Masyado niyo kasi pinapahirapan sarili niyo! haha... But reading everything you posted here was refreshing. hehe. Intellectual masyado mga tao! which only implies that we're better than machines and their stunted IQ/MIQ/Bar-b-Q! haha...

But if you would like to discuss further, BAHALA MO! i rest my case! hehe...

KIWI: Short Story of life

Priorities over wants

Let it go.

Sometimes you get torn between the things that you want against the things that should be prioritized. I have experienced it earlier today.

Days ago, I applied as a Korean English tutor in a school close to our village. I considered the opportunity right there and then thinking that it is possible to manage it with my other job. If I got a control on the situation and just force myself to do it, I know that taking it is possible.

With drive and determination, I applied for the job vacancy. I was informed during the interview that they are looking for full timers however, they might consider my application when they really need teachers (meaning, the supply of teachers is less than the demand). Everything went well, I felt confident in fact on how the process flowed.

The moment came where I got their training notice for the job. It will transpire today. It gave me exhausting delight because deep in me I know that I REALLY WANT THIS and I GOT IT!

However, Something came up.:( My dad told me that I have to finish ASAP my papers for Canada. I am currently processing it now. It was returned to me days ago since there were errors in it. Also, they require me to submit my medical exam. Time is running and this needs to be done since the deadline they gave me is almost over. Given this scenario, it is inevitable that I should give up anything that might disrupt it. And that led me to give up my the biggest opportunity I want.

So, even though I want it.. I have to let it go...

CROSSED FINGERS: hope this is the brightest decision. :X
