When you see a bible... what another term pops-out in your mind...?
4.) Word of GOD
3.)Scriptures
2.)Testament
1.)of course--BIBLE...
These 4 terms are the basis of our petty talk///
BIBLE:
The word Bible comes from the words..."biblos" and "bibleon" which means a BOOK, that is why when we say HOLY bible, it is like saying HOLY BOOK. The King James Version is compose of 66 books...39 books from the old testament and 27 books from the new testament. Compared to other versions of the bible, KJV did not include the apocrypal books like SIRACH and BARUK in its compilation because the bible scholars believe that these books just contribute historical benifits. The statements written also do not have the heading "Thus sayeth the Lord"as compared to the other books of the old testament. Before the KJV translation, there were 7 more translations preceeding it. And those books were also used by the bible scholars while they are translating KJV. The papyrus that contains the old testament is written in Hebrew while the new testament is written in Greek. The bible scholars, translated them word per word, no add-ups and omissions.
TESTAMENT:
meaning covenant or a promise.
The bible is an instrument used by God in revealing His promise of salvation to the ones who accepted Him as Lord and Savior. That is His greatest promise to the believers. Also, He revealed in the Bible the promise land He prepared for the Israelites back in the old testament... and if you would scan more stories, you will witness the bounty of promised blessings in store for His followers.
SCRIPTURE:
meaning Holy writings.
The bible can be also called a scripture because the writers of the book are inspired by God. They are moved by the Holy Spirit while writing what God wants to be written. God is the author of all the books in the bible. The human writers may have different forms and style in writing, but the books never contradict each other.
WORD of GOD:
Every word written in the bible is His message to His people. It comes from Him and only Him.
